What is a Kayo VIN Decoder?

The Kayo VIN Decoder is a tool you can use to decode the VIN and get the vehicle history report. The Vehicle Identification Number is a unique identifier that consists of 17 digits of numbers and letters. A VIN decoder tool is a useful tool that will help you do a proper background check by yourself, without needing to go to the dealer.

On the vehicle history report, you will be able to see the complete information of the vehicle, like the real odometer reading, past owners, past vehicle usage, recall history, and much more.

What Can You Find Through Kayo VIN Decoder?

Our Kayo VIN Decoder service has two different options: a free and a paid VIN decoder. The free VIN Decoder service gets you all the basic information about the vehicle.

  • Manufacturer: Most Kayo VINs will start with “L9N,” indicating Zhejiang Taotao Vehicle Industry Co., Ltd, the primary manufacturer of Kayo vehicles.
  • Year of Production: The 10th digit typically represents the model year (although some older models might use the 7th digit).
  • Vehicle Type: Some VINs might include code specific to the type of vehicle, such as ATV, dirt bike, etc.
  • Engine Size: Depending on the VIN format, specific codes might represent engine displacement or power.
  • Model Code: Some newer Kayo VINs might include a code specific to the exact model variant.

On the other hand, our paid VIN decoder gets you more detailed information about the vehicle in addition to the basic vehicle information. Here’s what you will be getting on the vehicle history report.

Number of Owners

Find out how many people have owned the motorcycle, along with details like the year of purchase, ownership period, and location.

Odometer Reading

Check the earliest recorded odometer readings, including the date and mileage, to detect possible tampering.

Vehicle Usage

See whether the motorcycle was for personal use, part of a fleet, used by the police, government, or served another purpose.

Sales History

See a full sales record including dates of sale, prices, retail value, mileage, condition, damage, and repair costs.

Title Status

Check if the bike carries a clean title or if it has been marked as salvage, rebuilt, or has liens attached. A VIN check will confirm the true title status.

Damage History

Learn if the motorcycle has ever sustained damage from accidents, floods, fires, or other incidents.

Accident and Repair History

View records of any accidents the motorcycle was involved in, including dates and locations. The report may also show whether repairs were properly completed.

Recalls History

Find out if the bike has ever been recalled by the manufacturer, along with the date, reported issues, and steps taken to fix them.

Auction History

Access auction details such as seller type, date, price, location, and images (if available) showing the bike’s actual condition.

Loans and Liens

Confirm whether the motorcycle has outstanding loans or liens to avoid future repossession issues.

Total Mileage

Verify the motorcycle’s mileage history and confirm that it matches the seller’s claims.

Theft Records

Check if the motorcycle has ever been reported stolen, with details on the date, location, and source of the information..

Why You Need A VIN Check?

Buying a used vehicle without running a VIN check is risky, as you could accidentally buy a stolen vehicle or one that.

  • Accident History: In 2020, the NHTSA reported over 51,000 motorcycle crashes with 5,000+ fatalities. A VIN check shows if the bike was in an accident and the extent of damage or repairs.
  • Flood Damage: The NFIP notes 13.6 million properties are in flood zones. Bikes exposed to flooding risk rust, wiring issues, and long-term mechanical problems.
  • Title Brands: A salvage title means the bike was declared a total loss. Some are repaired, but knowing this helps you judge safety and value.
  • Scams and Theft: The FBI reported 23,000+ motorcycles stolen in 2020. A VIN report confirms if the bike is legitimate and has a clean title.
  • Fair Pricing: Use the vehicle history report as a negotiation tool to get a cheaper price.

VIN Location on the Kayo Motorcycles

Finding the VIN on a Kayo motorcycle is easy; you just need to examine the body, like on the neck tube, and on the vehicle’s documentation. Here are the areas where you can examine and get the VIN:

  • Steering stem/neck tube: For most motorcycles and ATVs, the VIN is stamped into the steering stem or neck tube of the frame. It becomes visible when the handlebars are turned.
  • Frame rails/tubes: The VIN may also be etched onto a frame rail or tube, often near the footwell or at the rear of the vehicle.
  • Stickers or Plates: Some Kayo models display the VIN on a sticker or a metal plate attached directly to the frame.

If you can’t locate it on the vehicle, check the vehicle’s documentation:

  • Check Official Documents: The VIN is always listed on the vehicle’s title, registration, and insurance paperwork.
  • Consult the Owner’s Manual: Each manual shows the exact VIN location for that specific Kayo model.

FAQs About Kayo Motorcycle VIN Decoder

Our tool allows you to check a motorcycle’s VIN. Simply input the 17-digit code in the form field provided here. This check is specifically for you to get a vehicle history report.

Yes, you can! Our online decoder allows lookup by simply entering the 17-character code. This decoder provides information like: year, make, model, engine size and type, and the manufacturer’s location.

The 17-digit code holds the answer. The 10th character in the sequence indicates the model year. For example, in JH2KE07004M101370, the “4” denotes a 2004 model year.

While online decoders offer convenience, decoding the code manually can be a fun exercise for motorcycle enthusiasts. Each character in the 17-digit sequence holds a specific meaning:

  • First 3 characters: World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) – Identifies the manufacturer and country of origin.
  • Next 5 characters: Vehicle Descriptor Section (VDS) – Describes vehicle type, body style, transmission, and restraint system.

Character 11 to 17: Vehicle Identifier Section (VIS) – Includes production plant code, model year, sequential production number, and check digit for verification. If you find these FAQs interesting and informative, kindly share this page.
