Frequently Asked Questions about Ford

How are VIN numbers stamped?

VIN numbers are typically stamped onto a metal plate, which is then attached to the vehicle. The stamping process involves using a series of dies to imprint the alphanumeric characters onto the plate. The 10th digit of the VIN represents the vehicle’s model year. You can identify the model year of any vehicle using our free VIN decoder. If you have a VIN number year chart, you can also identify the model year of any vehicle by cross-checking the 10th digit with the chart.

Does the VIN number tell the manufacture date?
